Randy founded his business strategy and consulting firm, Penny Strategies, recognizing the life lesson he learned at an early age, when his dad taught him that “every penny counts.” He continues to employ that philosophy today in his work with entrepreneurs and business owners. With Randy’s help, business owners can become better prepared to maximize profits and build wealth as they prepare for the ultimate sale of the business.

With a style that is more Jimmy Buffett than Warren Buffett, Randy has infused each of his business ventures with his own brand of energetic leadership, vision and spirit. Today, operating as The Business Crusader, Randy serves as advisor and coach to entrepreneurs and growing businesses, pursuing his mission to eradicate the “unprepared entrepreneur” from the world of business. He has developed a business methodology and strategies that provide a solid foundation for short- and long-term financial planning, forecasting, and growth and contingency planning, benefitting entrepreneurs and their businesses. He also helps business owners promote an internal culture of ownership based on his “We Before Me” philosophy, recognizing that successful companies must focus on the business first, before personal influences such as ego, greed and entitlement come into play, which can lead to failure.

Born in Dallas, Randy started his career working in sales and administration at the family-owned business, HAC Corporation, a metallic and composite manufacturing repair facility for the U.S. Military, OEMs and the FAA. Subsequently, he worked for McDonnell-Douglas (which eventually became Boeing) as a sales director and business development manager in the MRO sector (maintenance-repair-overhaul) for the original equipment manufacturer.

Based on that experience, Randy co-founded and served as president and CEO of Texas Air Composites (TAC), one of the nation’s leading FAA-authorized repair centers for composite structures. By turning previously expendable components into cost-efficient repair solutions, the company excelled in its production efficiency, customer service and competitive pricing. At TAC, Randy honed his unique management style, based on a passionate belief in open book management, which encourages each employee to understand the inner workings of the business and, thus, become truly invested in the success of the company. Revenues reached $23 million in 2014, the year Randy negotiated the sale of the business.
